Alicia takes us on a trip down memory lane, starting from her childhood in Modesto, where she faced early trauma with the passing of her father due to hepatitis D. She shares poignant memories of visiting him in the hospital and the lasting impact it had on her fear of needles.

 

She also recounts her family's struggles, including moving frequently and experiencing homelessness. Her personal anecdote about a friend's intervention in high school, leading to a visit from Child Protective Services and a sheriff.
